We woke up a half an hour early, went through our normal morning routine, and then headed off. I got to ride with Joyce and Soko, both folks who I haven't really ridden with much yet. Additionally, and alum named George rode the first 12 miles with us before hopping on with other groups.
The ride started off with a steep climb where SUS12 alums cheered us on, then turned to rolling hills, and then when we turned for the last 20 miles everything was flat and the wind was fairly fierce. It's pretty amazing how much can change in a day.
With about 15 miles left, we found a cool place to swim about 1.5 miles off route. It was totally worth it, and made the last 15 miles a breeze (though it was 7 before we made it back to host).
I fell asleep pretty hard at the showers while waiting for a ride back, and then most of our team went into town to hang out a bit. I came back and was fortunate enough to snag a futon, fell asleep, and woke up an hour later to all 4 of us leaders on the futon together. Tender moments.
Gooood day.
Also, did I mention we rode 100 miles?
