Charlottesville to Lexington: 86ish miles of climbing

Today we rode the hardest day I've had in my life. With a few accidental reroutes, 12 hours on a bike, and a bum knee- I finally made it 92 miles, almost all uphill. There was a period of time where some teammates were encouraging me to get in the van and rest, but I couldn't let myself not finish the ride, so I iced my knee at second lunch and headed back out. Unfortunately, my knee was locking up so much at the end of the ride that my co-leaders and I decided to trade mine and Jay's van day tomorrow so that I could rest/not further an injury. Self discipline is hard, but I chatted with a rider about health coming first, so I guess it would be super hypocritical to push myself to a dangerous level. Lame. Such is life.

At the end of today's route, there was a 4 mile 8% grade downhill that made everything worth it. (Also worth it, these views).
