Yesterday I was driving the van on the way to Charlottesville. Originally, I thought van days would be an easy break from biking, but I was just as exhausted at the end of the day. The roads were fairly narrow and windy, so I was stressin about taking curves while I knew the riders on the road. We had lunch provided by a lovely alum from Charlottesville who met us at our lunch stop, which I passed twice. (I actually missed four turns, and turning around with a trailer is somewhat challenging.)
We got in to our host super early, so I had time to run a bit, and then a few of us rode across town to Mass on UVA's campus. Additionally, since we finally made it to someplace more populated than the small towns we've been in, we finally went out with most of the team and hung out.
Today was our first BUILD DAY! We worked with AHIP on a bunch of different projects. At one point I challenged one of the guys to see who could drive a nail in the least number of hits. We both got 4. Woot. Also, I got to use a saw, and got to hang out and chat with people all day. It was awesome and a great opportunity to continue getting to know my teammates. I'm really interested to see how we move from the get to know you phase, to a natural routine/natural relationships (whatever that means).
