Clay Center to Beloit

We rolled out of Clay Center earlier than we've ever left a town before, which was good because we've been chasing the goal of an early route meeting for weeks. I rode with Sam and Athena, both folks I hadn't ridden with since early in the trip. They were a good group to ride with because we could book it for a bit, chill out for a while, and just ride at whatever pace we wanted.

In the mountains, we had talked about how easy Kansas would feel as it was so flat. This ride proved that wrong. With winds as fast as 20mph (or faster, it's been up to debate) it felt like we were riding through molasses all day.

Despite the heavy winds, we got to the church rather early and had time for swimming and napping. One of our shower sites was a pretty stellar pool.
It seems like Kansas just has a lot of public pools and such.

In the evening we did more AH presentations. These are slowly becoming one of my favorite parts of the trip. See yesterday's post as well, but it's cool to spend time talking and learning and being genuinely interested in the whole reason we're here.

I then went to hammock with Dan and fell asleep. Any day that ends with hammock sleeping is a good day. And any day that includes a bike ride is a good day. So today, was a good day.
