Beloit to Phillipsburg

Another windy, windy day. Drove the van like it's my job (because it is). At mile 19 we passed the largest ball of twine in the world, so that was cool. Found a ballin' American lunch spot, complete with Statue of Liberty, and the ability to see riders approaching from miles away. Missed a lot of the riders at lunch to take Soko to a bike shop. Her crank has been making a constant grinding sound. They weren't able to fix it, but they were able to tell that it wouldn't hurt for her to keep riding it til Denver (where someone else might fix it). After leaving lunch, I got the most helmet taps I've ever gotten before (meaning, I honk to tell the rider I'm passing, and they tap their helmet to say they need help). Though not a happy task, I got to practice my concussion knowledge on one rider who had a slight spill. Luckily, all was well.

Once I pulled into the host, I dropped the trailer to get mail and take more water out to the last riders. We ran out of water at lunch, and we've had a bit of dehydration lately. It was fun to find riders in random places and pull off to give water and hear about their day, especially after having missed them at lunch.

Though that sounds like a short day, it was actually jam packed. As soon as I got back from taking water out, we shuttled to showers, then I walked I as dinner began, and then I had 30 minutes to compose my thoughts before town hall. I was kind of anxious about some things that needed to be discussed in our weekly meeting, but afterwards it seemed to have been received fairly well. Woot.

We wandered around town for 3ish minutes before remembering we were in Kansas, and then went to bed ready to face the next day's winds.
